Advertising and affiliate disclosure
Advertising disclosure: OddsNorth earns commission when readers sign up with some of the sportsbooks listed on this site. Commission never changes our ratings, our ordering, or what we write about a book's weaknesses. Books we do not have a commercial relationship with are reviewed on the same criteria and can and do rank above ones we do.
Which links are affiliate links
Any outbound link to a sportsbook may be an affiliate link. These carry rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attributes so search engines and browsers can identify them. Links to regulators, provincial lottery corporations, government pages, app stores and help lines are never affiliate links.
What we are paid
Arrangements vary by operator and typically take one of three forms. Revenue share pays a percentage of the operator’s net revenue from referred players. Betway Partners, for example, publishes a tiered structure running from 25 percent up to 40 percent based on volume. Cost per acquisition pays a fixed amount per qualifying new player. Hybrid deals combine both.
We do not disclose individual commercial terms because they are covered by operator agreements, but the structures above are the full set.
What commission does not buy
Placement. Ordering on our rankings is produced by the scoring criteria published on our how we rate page. No operator can pay to move up, and none has ever been asked to pay to stay.
Silence. Every review lists what does not work as prominently as what does, including for operators we earn from. Where a book publishes no support channels or claims provinces its registration does not support, we say so.
Exclusion. Books we earn nothing from, including provincial lottery products like PlayNow, PROLINE+, Play Alberta and Mise-o-jeu+, are covered on the same terms and recommended wherever they are the correct answer, which in six provinces they are.
Independence in practice
The clearest test of whether a review site is independent is what it does when the evidence is unflattering. On this site, that looks like PowerPlay ranking last partly because it does not name its regulator, and Betway losing marks for a store listing that claims provinces its registration does not cover. Both are operators with active affiliate programmes.
Regulatory context
In Ontario, advertising and marketing of igaming is governed by AGCO standards, including restrictions on how bonuses and inducements may be promoted. We do not publish bonus amounts at all, which sidesteps most of that surface area, and we do not target under-age audiences in any format.
Before you deposit anywhere
Set a deposit limit the day you open an account, not the day you need one. Every regulated Canadian sportsbook has limit and self-exclusion tools built in, and the provincial help lines on our responsible gambling page are free and confidential.
