Sports betting in Atlantic Canada
Four provinces, one lottery corporation. Atlantic Lottery runs the only legal online betting across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.
The rules in Atlantic Canada
The Atlantic Lottery Corporation is jointly owned by the four Atlantic provinces or their lottery agencies and regulated by the four provincial governments. Online betting runs through alc.ca, including PROLINE and STADIUM•BETS, and requires residency in and physical presence in Atlantic Canada. The minimum age is 19 across all four provinces.
What that means in practice
STADIUM•BETS offers moneyline, spread and total selections, up to eight selections with one per event, Combo Play from 2s to 7s, and stakes from $1 to $250 per play. Eligible events vary by province.
Nova Scotia is the clearest case in the country: under the Gaming–Atlantic Lottery Regulations, a person other than the Corporation must not conduct or manage an online game. Atlantic Lottery introduced AL Rewards on January 12, 2026.
The only legal option in Atlantic Canada
PROLINE and STADIUM•BETS on alc.ca is the sole legal online sportsbook here. Private operators reviewed on this site are not registered in Atlantic Canada, so we do not recommend them to residents. If the province opens to private operators the way Ontario and Alberta have, this page will change.
