The CFL is the clearest example of a market where a Canadian bettor can know more than the book does. Fewer eyes on it means softer numbers, but you have to find a sportsbook that takes the action first.
Three downs instead of four means more punting, more third-down gambles and a faster clock. Drives end sooner, possessions turn over more often, and comebacks stay live later than they would in the NFL.
The field is 110 yards long and 65 wide, with 20-yard end zones. More space, more speed and the single point for a missed field goal or punt into the end zone all push scoring up. Totals sit higher than the NFL for the same nominal quality of teams.
The single point, called the rouge, is the rule that ruins the most losing tickets. A total or a spread can be decided by a punt nobody in the stadium was watching.
This is the filter that matters. bet365, Sports Interaction and Betway all confirm CFL markets on their own listings, and FanDuel names the CFL alongside the PWHL. DraftKings, BetMGM, BetVictor, BET99 and TonyBet do not state CFL coverage, which usually means limited markets or none.
On the provincial side, PlayNow covers the CFL in British Columbia and Manitoba, and Play Alberta lists it among more than 50 leagues.
Line shopping pays more in the CFL than in any other league, because there are fewer books setting numbers and they disagree more. A half point of spread is worth chasing here in a way it rarely is on an NFL side.
Injury news is slower and less centralised. Following team beat reporters directly is a genuine edge, which is not something you can say about the NFL any more.
